Project: Eria Travel

2025|5 Views|Categories: Website

The Eria Travel project was conceived and developed to serve as a comprehensive online presence for a travel agency in Crete that specializes in accessible tourism. The website’s purpose is to present information clearly and attractively for users with various accessibility needs, while providing essential travel services and destination content in a fully responsive and elegant design.

Development Approach

The project was implemented using WordPress as the core CMS due to its flexibility, extensibility, and robust ecosystem. For layout design and visual composition, Bricks Builder was selected as the primary visual development tool. Its clean code output, performance-oriented structure, and native support for dynamic content made it the ideal choice for this project.

To further enhance customization and allow for dynamic content across different sections of the website, Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) was used extensively. ACF enabled the creation of custom field groups for tours, accommodations, services, and testimonials, which empowered the site administrators to manage content efficiently without interacting with raw code or complex interfaces.

Key Features and Implementation Details

  • Custom Post Types and Fields: Using ACF, custom content structures were built for the main services, including accessible tours, excursions, and accommodations. Each listing includes detailed metadata that can be updated easily from the WordPress dashboard.

  • Dynamic Page Templates: Leveraging Bricks Builder’s dynamic data binding features, custom templates were created to ensure consistency across similar content types while preserving flexibility for future scalability.

  • Responsive and Accessible Design: Special attention was given to accessibility best practices, ensuring that the website adheres to WCAG guidelines. Font sizes, contrast ratios, and navigational structure were designed to be usable by all users, including those using screen readers or assistive technologies.

  • Multilingual Readiness: The structure allows for easy integration with multilingual plugins, preparing the site for future expansion to non-Greek audiences.

  • SEO and Performance Optimization: Clean semantic HTML structure, lazy loading, optimized images, and fast-loading pages were prioritized throughout the development. Bricks Builder’s native performance optimization features were complemented by additional plugins for caching and asset minification.

Conclusion

The Eria Travel website is the result of a carefully planned and executed development process that combines the versatility of WordPress with the modern capabilities of Bricks Builder and ACF. Developed by Ntamas as part of his role at immko, this project demonstrates a clean, professional, and future-ready approach to web development—highlighting accessibility, performance, and ease of content management.

This project is a representative example of how modern WordPress development tools can be orchestrated to create highly customized, user-friendly, and efficient web solutions.
